In Filipino Visayan mythology, the Goddess Dalikamata is the thousand-eyed diety of health. Here, Amaterasu has been bound in shibari, decorative Japanese rope bondage, to prevent her from returning to the cave and plunging the world into darkness again. This mirror became one of Amaterasu's most important symbols and also a symbol of the Japanese imperial family, who claim direct lineage and divine legitimacy from the sun goddess herself. When she emerged more fully, the gods yanked her out of the cave, bringing light back to the world.
When Amaterasu began to peak outside the cave to see if this goddess was more powerful than her, the other gods held up a mirror, tricking Amaterasu. Eventually, they have Amenouzume, the goddess of comedy, dance and perform outside of the cave, and hundreds of gods sing her praises, causing great envy in Amaterasu.

The other gods begin to plot how to entice her to leave the cave. A prominent legend about her is that one day she became frightened by her brother and hid within a cave, plunging the world into cold darkness and chaos. These millenia of torment, my punishment, thread through my bones like poison. Saeta, awakener of the desolate, ignite these five lifeless eyes! Where once its piercing song shattered the mirrors and trinkets in my tomb, let its wail now grant light. Consequently, the Saeta became a force in itself, to be blown from Jibrael's twisted bronze bugle, in order that the Saeta can resound again and awaken the Amanecidas and Laudes up from their slumber whenever the High Wills, which never forget them, needs them again.
It is implied that Jibrael himself played the Saeta during those processions.Īfter the Twisted One's final passing, the High Wills, jealous of Laudes's passionate devotion and ardour towards him instead of towards them through the Miracle, cursed, condemned, and bound the Five Dawns to their whim and sealed them five, asleep and undead, in five crystal sarcophagi as punishment. Consequently, the Saeta first arose as the procession march which resounded far and wide and announced the Twisted One's presence. These Five Dawns took upon themselves to guard and parade the Twisted One in public, while he still "lived in a divine prison of pain and piety, supported on and rooted in a tree, between sobs and cracks". Her immense passion exuded from her body in the form of liquid gold and, by the High Wills' working, became incarnated as four women: four replicas, four reflections of Laudes. Shortly after the High Wills mischievously fulfilled the wish for punishment of a youngster, turning him into the Twisted One and manifesting the Miracle in Cvstodia, Laudes became a devotee to him. When Laudes is beaten, the Penitent One can keep going left and jump down without the Linen of Golden Thread to gain a new heart, the Brilliant Heart of Dawn.
